Getting Yourself Used to the Master Cleanse Diet
If you follow a typical Western diet, it can be hard to go right on to performing the Master Cleanse. The Master Cleanse recipe has very few ingredients
and absolutely no solid food, which can be somewhat of a system shock to people who aren't accustomed to
performing regular cleanses beforehand. Fortunately, there is a pretty easy way that people who want to try
the Master Cleanse can sort of ease their way into it, and make the cleanse itself easier to
handle.
To start with, the Master Cleanse is all juice. For a few days running up to the beginning of the
cleanse, followers should start eating more raw, whole fruits and vegetables, and reducing their consumption
of refined sugars, grains, and processed foods. This will help their body start to detox a bit naturally, a
process that will be helped along once the cleanse it started. Most people follow the Master Cleanse for ten
days or so, but devotees have been known to follow it for a month or more. New followers shouldn't try to
push themselves that hard, and instead shoot for cleansing for ten days or so.
For a day or two immediately before the Master Cleanse, followers should
switch to a juice fast. This entails drinking nothing but freshly-juiced organic fruits and vegetables, and
avoiding solid food. Even though they'll just be drinking juice, freshly-made juices contain a lot of fiber
and solids, so followers shouldn't really experience hunger. This will also allow their stomachs to shrink a
bit, which will reduce feelings of hunger during the cleanse itself.
During the actual cleanse, the only things that followers will be consuming are the Master Cleanse
recipe, herbal laxatives, and the salt water flush. The Master Cleanse recipe is very effective at quelling
hunger, but followers need to remember to drink some as soon as hunger strikes. The Master Cleanse recipe
itself should be drunk between six and twelve times a day for the best effect, and herbal laxatives should be
taken twice a day. The salt water flush can be performed once a day, or as needed.
Sometimes, detoxing can produce detox symptoms, like headaches, nausea, or other side-effects.
Drinking enough water (be sure that it's filtered or reverse osmosis water from a non-plastic container) will
help prevent and alleviate these. Drinking enough of the Master Cleanse recipe itself will also help keep
detox symptoms at bay.
Once the cleanse is over, a one or two day juice fast is a good way to help get the digestive system
re-acclimated to food. After that, followers should begin eating whole, raw, organic fruits and vegetables,
unprocessed ancient grains, and organic meats. This will help keep toxins from building back up in their
systems, and let them go on to lead healthier, illness-free lives.
